     Otho Offutt was born on February 11, 1840 at Offutts Knobs, Johnson County, MO, USAG.1,2,3,4,5,6,7 He was listed in the 1850 census at Jackson Township, Johnson County, MO, USAG, in the household of Rezin Ray Offutt and Amelia Offutt on December 10, 1850.8 Otho Offutt drove a team of oxen from Leavenworth, KS to Salt Lake City, UT in 1858.9,10 He was listed in the 1860 census at Lamar Township, Barton County, MO, USAG, in the household of William S. Offutt and Amanda F. Offutt on July 19, 1860.11 Otho Offutt was a member of the military circa January 1, 1862, serving with at MO, USAG; with Quantrill.12,13,14 He began military service on August 18, 1862 at Lafayette County, MO, USAG, as a Corporal in Company G, 5th Missouri Calvary, C.S.A. He was a member of the military on November 24, 1863, serving with; absent without leave, may have been with Quantrill.
