    Following an illness of ten days of infirmities. Mrs. Margaret Offutt Mundy, 80 years old, widow of Col. Marc Mundy, a prominent attorney, died at 5: 45 o'clock yesterday morning at her home, in the Weissenger-Gaulbert apartment, Third street and Broadway. She was born in Scott county, near Georgetown, and was a daughter of the late Col. Ezra N. Offutt, a planter and stock raiser. She had been a resident of Louisville more than fifty years. Her husband was commander or the Twenty-Third·Kentucky Volunteer Regiment in the Union army and was Provost Marshal of Louisville during the Civil War. His death occurred in 1901. She is survived by a son, St. Marc Mundy. and two sisters, Mrs. W. F. Mundy, and Mrs. E. O. Witherspoon. She was a member of the Warren Memorial Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will be conducted a 4 o'clock this afternoon. Burial will be in Cave Hill cemetery."

     Benjamin Alexander Offutt was born on February 15, 1838 at KY, USA.2,3,4,5,6 He was listed in the 1850 census at District #2, Scott County, KY, USA, in the household of Benjamin Bowles Ford on August 25, 1850.7 Benjamin Alexander Offutt was graduated in 1855 at Georgetown College, Georgetown, Scott County, KY, USA, with a A.B.1 He appeared on the Federal Census of July 31, 1860 at Bolivar County, MS, USA.8 He lived on May 15, 1861 at Skipworth Landing, Issaquena County, MS, USA. He began military service on May 15, 1861 at Capt. Moody's Company, MS Volunteers, Vicksburg, MS, Confederate States of America, as a Private.9,10 He was a member of the military in July, 1861, serving with at 21st Mississippi Infatry Regiment, Company A, Confederate States of America, after a re-organization.10 He was a member of the military on July 11, 1862, transferring to at 28th MS Calvary, Confederate States of America.11,12 He was a member of the military circa December 29, 1862, serving with at Campbellville; wounded in action.13 He was was listed as 2nd Sergeant, wounded, between November, 1864 and December, 1864, serving with at 28th MS Calvary, Company D, Confederate States of America.14 He ended military service on May 12, 1865 at Gainesville, AL, USA, when he was paroled.15 He appeared on the Federal Census of July 5, 1880 at 5th Supervisors District, Bolivar County, MS, USA.16 He died in June, 1885 at age 47.1

Adds that Mr. Offutt's first wife was Lillian Armstrong of Louisville.
