Gall stones and dilation of the heart caused his death. Mr. Gard is survived by four children: John, of Lakeville, Ind; Benjamin and Charles of North Liberty, and Mary Ellen, at home: a sister, Mrs. Asbury Rose, of Berrien Springs, Mich., and a brother, Samuel, of Greene township. Funeral services will be held at 11 o'clock Friday morning at the Oak Grove church of the Brethren, Rev. James Kessler, officiating. Burial will take place at the Sumption Prairie cemetery. Mr. Gard moved to St. Joseph county with his parents when he was 12 years of age, having formerly resided in Virginia." Based on this being printed in the Thursday edition and having stated in it that Solomon died Wednesday one would conclude that he died on the 14th. However that doesn't match his death certificate and I've removed the 14th as a date.
