In the will Solomon stated that his desire was after his personal property was disposed of at sall and all debts were paid that his wife was to receive the farm, and all belongings on the farm to have and hold as long as she remained his widow. The will names youngest son Thornton, as well as sons Owen, Joseph, and Zepheniah who were supposed to be granted 1/4 shares in the farms leasing until Thornton reached 21 if Solomon's wife Elizabeth should pass away or remarry. Further the will names the 9 children of Solomon and Elizabeth who were living at the time of it's writing to wit: Owen Offutt, Joseph Offutt, Zepheniah Offutt, Thornton Offutt, Nancy Pugh formerly Nancy Offutt, Sarah Pugh formerly Sarah Offutt, Rachel Die formerly Rachel Offutt, Hester Offutt and Harriet Offutt. Each was supposed to be granted an equal share of the estate. Offutt on September 25, 1834 at Hampshire County, VA, USA, he was also an executor.6,7 Joseph Offutt married Elizabeth Prettyman, daughter of Lewis Prettyman and Harriet Mason, on April 22, 1838 at Tazewell County, IL, USA.8,9 Joseph Offutt lived circa 1839 at Spring Lake Township, Tazewell County, IL, USA.10 When the first school house was built in 1849 Mr. Offutt wasand an unknown person were to the expense of getting the shingles and lumber for this house. in 1849 at Spring Lake Township, Tazewell County, IL, USA.11 He and Elizabeth Offutt appeared on the Federal Census of October 19, 1850 at Pekin, Tazewell County, IL, USA.12 Joseph Offutt was J. In the will Solomon stated that his desire was after his personal property was disposed of at sall and all debts were paid that his wife was to receive the farm, and all belongings on the farm to have and hold as long as she remained his widow. The will names youngest son Thornton, as well as sons Owen, Joseph, and Zepheniah who were supposed to be granted 1/4 shares in the farms leasing until Thornton reached 21 if Solomon's wife Elizabeth should pass away or remarry. Further the will names the 9 children of Solomon and Elizabeth who were living at the time of it's writing to wit: Owen Offutt, Joseph Offutt, Zepheniah Offutt, Thornton Offutt, Nancy Pugh formerly Nancy Offutt, Sarah Pugh formerly Sarah Offutt, Rachel Die formerly Rachel Offutt, Hester Offutt and Harriet Offutt. Each was supposed to be granted an equal share of the estate. By the time of the will Nancy Pugh was a widow, as she is mentioned as being able to stay on property she was on unless she was to remarry. There are additional bequests dealing with some of the children being given a horse, cow and calf and bridle. The will was presented to court on the 27th of March 1848.
