Goes on to state that William and Hannah had 3 children. This obviously contradicts a bride named Verlinda so the reference has been removed from the marriage tag for Verlinda Beall.

John Beall 1688-1742 married 1712 Verlinda Magruder, 1690/8-1745, daughter of Samuel Magruder and Sarah Beall. Goes further to list the issue of John Beall and Verlinda; Hannah Beall, b 1729 is listed as marrying William Offutt Sr. and Verlinda Beall is listed as marrying Thomas Beall (1744-1823) in 1764. He is listed as her nephew. States also that as of 1978 no documentary proof has been found that Hannah Beall did in fact marry William Offutt Sr. This would contradict a bride named Verlinda so the reference has been removed from the marriage tag for Verlinda Beall.
[S75] Letter, Roberta Hull to David W. Offutt, Letter dated January 22, 1996; states that the listing of F. M. M. Beall for the family of John Beall and his wife Verlinda (nee Magruder) which states that daughter Verlinda married her nephew Thomas Beall isn't correct. Thomas, according to Roberta married his first cousin, daughter of Josias, as proved by the will of Josias Jr., in which he willed to the children of his sister Verlinda and her husband Thomas. She goes on to state that Verlinda Beall, daughter of John Beall was in fact "available" to marry William Offutt Sr.
The Offutt's didn't know that Hannah had married William Beall so she wasn't "available " to marry William Offutt. Sr.
[S75] Letter, Roberta Hull to David W. Offutt, Letter dated January 22, 1996; states that the listing of F. M. M. Beall for the family of John Beall and his wife Verlinda (nee Magruder) which states that daughter Verlinda married her nephew Thomas Beall isn't correct. Thomas according to Roberta married his first cousin, daughter of Josias, as proved by the will of Josias Jr., in which he willed to the children of his sister Verlinda and her husband Thomas. She goes on to state that Verlinda Beall, daughter of John Beall was in fact "available" to marry William Offutt Sr.

Nathaniel Offutt. son of Edward, departed this life....... some day a short time before his death he declared the following testimonial words or in substance in our presence ……. his desire ..... the property, ….equally divided among his five children who were then living with him and his wife".

CYNTHIANA, Ky.. Dec. 21 - James Howard Offutt, retired farmer, died this morning at 2 o'clock at his home at Leesburg after an illness of several months. He was born at Leesburg September 28, 1863, and was the son of the late Nathaniel and Amelia Porter Offutt. His first marriage was to Miss Jeanie Shropshire and his second marriage was to Mrs. Mary Alice Barkley, who survives. His surviving children by his first marriage are: Mrs. Forest Thompson, Claysville; Mrs. Earl Anderson, Leesburg, and Earl Offutt, Covington. and a surviving sister is Mrs. Lou Switzer, Los Angeles, Cal. Mr. Offutt was a member of the Leesburg Christian church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the residence, the Rev. Wyatt Montgomery, pastor of the Leesburg church. officiating. Burial will be at Jacksonville cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Brock, A. C. Webb, Dr. H. C. Blount, Harold Shropshire, Vesta Allen and Ray Paul. Honorary pallbearers will be C. H. Paul. Harvey Shropshire, Joe Offutt, Rolla Van Hook, Walter Switzer and Stewart Shropshire."

Offutt, of the Orphans Court of Baltimore County, died suddenly Saturday morning at his residence, Mount Welcome, near Granite, in the second district. Judge Offutt had been suffering-several weeks with rheumatism. but nothing serious was apprehended. He was in his usual good spirits Friday night, and conversed with his family until a late hour. During the night he awoke and talked to his wife, but did not complain of anything unusual. About 6 o'clock in the morning Mrs. Offutt discovered that her beloved husband had died during the night. Dr. Offutt, his brother-in-law, is of opinion that the rheumatism with which Mr. Offutt had suffered had attacked his heart and had caused sudden death. Judge Offutt was in his fifty-fifth year and was a son of the late Lemuel Offutt. He was born and raised in the neighborhood in which he died. Judge Offutt was a farmer and at one time was a justice of the peace. In 1891 he was elected one of the judges of the Orphans' Court and was serving the last year of his term of four years. He was a candidate for reelection. His first wife was Miss Hewett, a daughter of Dr. Hewett, of Howard county. His second wife was Miss Elizabeth Frances Cockey. Daughter of the late Judge Cockey, who was for many years judge of the Orphans' Court for Baltimore county. Mr. Offutt left six children. These are Lemuel D. Offutt, Mrs. Frances S. Kemp, Dell H. Offutt, Mrs. Wm. A. Ridgely, J. Fred. Offutt and Dorsey W. Offutt. Milton W. Offutt, of Towson, is his nephew."
