Originally this Lemuel was listed as a son of Archibald and Jane (Odle) Offutt. The article details the reasons that this was incorrect, including the Bible Records of Archibald Offutt which lists Lemuel Offutt being born Jan 14th, 1820. This would mean that he was 12 when Lemuel Offutt married Maria Worthington Walters on 3 September 1832. In addition the Bible Record of James Offutt lists as the 11th child one that was born November 15, 1805 with the year scratched out. Though the original handwriting is covered by a patch, and the year is scratched out "Lemuel, and 1805 is handwritten in pencil to the right."
