I wonder if the 1805 date of death isn't correct and the 1753 date came from the settlement of his father's estate. Thomas Offutt had place of death as Magruder's Purchase. Also Thomas only had 3 children. Kevin Magruder has date of death as about 1805. Originally this Lemuel was listed as a son of Archibald and Jane (Odle) Offutt. The article details the reasons that this was incorrect, including the Bible Records of Archibald Offutt which lists Lemuel Offutt being born Jan 14th, 1820. This would mean that he was 12 when Lemuel Offutt married Maria Worthington Walters on 3 September 1832. In addition the Bible Record of James Offutt lists as the 11th child one that was born November 15, 1805 with the year scratched out. Though the original handwriting is covered by a patch, and the year is scratched out "Lemuel, and 1805 is handwritten in pencil to the right."
