Ward to Miss V. B. Ogden, a Paris, (Kentucky) paper says: A telegram from Marietta, Ga., to Mrs. Mrs. E. J. Ogden, of this city, announced the marriage, on last Monday, of her grand-daughter, Miss Virgie Brent Ogden, to Capt. Dallas Tucker Ward, of Franklinton, N. C. The bride, not yet out of her teens, left Paris in early infancy, when disease fastened itself upon her father, Virgil Massie Ogden. He sought the Sunny southland for prolongation of life; or at least mitigation of suffering. Fate, however, has against the brave sufferer and he was brought back and laid to rest in the home of his youth. He was a prominent merchant, and very popular in social life. Indeed, the social prestige of the Ogdens has been established for generations. In 1874 he married Miss Ella Ruth Offutt, neice of Mr. and Mrs. James Scott, who raised her. Miss Offutt was wealthy, a beauty and a belle, and even when a very young girl her literary talents were considered remarkable. The Hon. Henry Watterson used to say that she was the most brilliantly endowed woman he ever knew. Time has afforded her experience, and she is to-day one of the foremost writers of America. If she had ever pushed her claims to distinction she would without doubt have been much better identified with the congenial element to which she belongs. The bride of yesterday is the only living child of this parentage. Dr. Tennent. her step-father, is a practicing physician and surgeon of Marietta Ga., where he has been located for forty-five years, and is deservedly popular with all classes. His home is one of the most hospitable and popular in Marietta. Mrs. Ward visited here two years ago, and made a lasting impression among the friends of her father and mother, and the young society set of the city. It was a well known fact that several members of the sterner sex were left with cases of "heart trouble" and without hope or remedy. We extend our heartiest congratulations to Capt. Ward and bis exquisite bride, and may all their future be radiant with wedded happiness and love."
