He was a past Secretary of UMWA District #23, and was a member of Salem Missionary Baptist Church in Mortons Gap. He was preceded in death by his wife Opal Offutt, in 1990; three brothers, and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Martha Lovan Cardwell Offutt of Madisonville; four daughters, Linda Gibbons of Nortonville, Ky., Brenda Vandygriff of Nebo, Ky., and Hilda Price and Peggy O'Rear, both of Earlington, Ky.; three sons Larry Offutt and Tony Offutt, both of Madisonville, and Robert Offutt, Jr. of Nortonville, Ky.; one step-son, David Cardwell of Atlanta, Ga.; one brother Roy Offutt, of Nebo; 12 grandchildren; six step great-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today at Salem Missionary Baptist Church with Bro. John Ashby officiating. Burial will be in Salem Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. at Reid-Walters Funeral Home and from 11 a.m. until the funeral hour at Salem Missionary Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be Guy Gibbons, Craig Offutt, Eric Offutt, Brian Hornback, Kevin Offutt, Adam O'Rear, and Chris Price."
