Monument ST., died Tuesday at as local hospital of a short illness. She had been a resident of Colorado Springs since 1941 and prior to this lived in the Yoder and Edison communities for 23 years. Mrs. Offutt was born in Hopkins County, KY., on Jan 10, 1878, and was married May 20, 1896 in Springfield, Tenn. She is survived by three sons: Carl Offutt, Indiana; Raymond Offutt and Lonnie Offutt, Colorado Springs; five daughters: Mrs. Effie McGregor, Earlington, KY; Mrs. Ida Frisch, Melba, ID; Mrs. Mabel Radeabaugh, Grand Junction; Mrs. Hazel Strickland, Pueblo; Mrs. Margaret Anderson, Fountain; two sisters, Mrs. Willie Browning, Los Angeles; Mrs. Dossie Kortes, Cheweulah; 29 grandchildren; 42 great grandchildren, and two great great grandchildren. Born Nov. 27, 1913, in Madisonville, he was the son or the late Elijah Benjamin Offutt and Lena Bell Hewlett Offutt. He was t coal miner for Colonial Mines, P&M Coal Co. where he retired in 1976; he was a World War II Army veteran: he attended Christian Assembly; he was a member of D.A.V.; a member of VFW Post 5480; a member of the American Legion; a Kentucky Colonel; and a football coach at West Broadway Elementary School for 23 years. He is survived by his wife, Cuba Embry Offutt of Madisonville; three daughters, Barbara Huddleston of Kuttawa and Donna Harris and Debra Marks, both of Madisonville; two sons, James E. Offutt and Gary (Bush) Offutt, both of Madisonville; one sister, Betty Offutt Haire of Madisonville: one brother, John William Offutt of Earlington; 11 grandchildren:; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Barnett-Strother Funeral Home, with Rev. Glenn Hobgood and Rev. Roy Ellis officiating. Military graveside services will follow at Odd Fellows Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home."

F. and Laura Harris Offutt. He was an employee of Kington Coal Company near Mortons Gap for several years. He moved to Gary, Ind., in 1909, working for steel mills, then later returned to Hopkins County where he retired as a farmer. He married Roxie Ann Browning in 1912, and to this union four children were born. She preceded him in death in 1934. He then married Alma Cunningham in 1938, and to this union six children were born. Survivors other than his wife include four sons, Charles Sidney Offutt, Madisonville, Albert Douglas Offutt, Mortons Gap, Ronnie Offutt, Greenville, and Jimmy Offutt, Route 5, Madisonville; six daughters, Mrs. J. C. Gunn, Mortons Gap, Mrs. Lula Mae Ashley, Elfers, Fla., Mrs. James A. Tyson, Madisonville; Mrs. Vaby Boyd, Dawson Springs, and Mrs. Jerry Bean, St. Charles; three sisters, Mrs. Frances Pearl Mearel; Madisonville, Mrs. Nell Lofton, Evansville; Ind. and Mrs. Emma Lockhart, Newberg, Oregon; one step son, Luther Young, Nashville, Tenn.; two step daughters, Mrs. Addie Lee Almon, Slaughters, and Mrs. Virginia Bacon, Phoenix, Ariz.; 20 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and three great-great, grandchildren. He was at one time recently a partner with Don Peeler In Peeler's Pharmacy here but for many years before that was manager of Wesko Drug Store in: Earlington. He also served for ,many years on the Earlington school board. He was a member of all the Masonic bodies in Earlington and was also a member the Rizpah Shrine in Madisonville. Mr. Offutt was born near Madisonville on October 5, 1876, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. State Offutt, and spent his entire life in Hopkins county. He was married to the former Marian J. Headley In April, 1899, and !hey observed their 64th anniversary this year. Surviving, ln addition to Mrs. Offutt, who is also a resident of Clinic Convalescent Center, are two sons, Sam J. Offutt Jr., Earlington, and Headley Offutt. Nashville, Tenn.; a daughter, Mrs. F. O. (Dorothy Jane) McDonald, Chicago; 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday at Reid Funeral Home in Earlington, with the Rev. A. L. Fraser, pastor of Earlington First Methodist Church, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m., Saturday.”.
