Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the New Salem Chapel; burial in Buckner Hill Cemetery, Buckner. The family suggests contributions to City Union Mission. Mr. Offutt was a research engineer for the Vendo Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1987. He then was a development engineer for Labconco. Earlier he worked for Midwest Research Institute in Kansas City and Standard Oil Co. in Sugar Creek. He served on the Fort Osage School Board from 1960 to 1975. He was a member of Six Mile Baptist Church. He received a bachelor's degree in education and a master's degree in chemistry from the University of Missouri-Columbia and was a member of Sigma Xi and Gamma Alpha. He was born in Mexico, Mo., and moved to this area in 1946. Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Lois Offutt of the home; a son, Bradley E. Offutt, Athens, Greece; a daughter, Susan Ware, Independence; a granddaughter; and two stepgreat-grandsons.
