Offutt was born Feb. 22, 1844, in Kentucky, and died January 9, 1934, aged 89 years 10 months and 18 days. he died at the home of his son, J. F. Offutt, in Ernest township, after a brief illness. He moved with his mother to St. Clair county at the age of 4 years, his mother died when he was 8 years old. He was married to Leuvicey E. Feaster in 1872. To this union was born 3 sons, W. A. of Kansas City, Z. B. of Lebanon, J. F. of Lockwood, Mo., and one daughter who died in infancy. His companion died in 1920. He was converted in 1876, and united with a Baptist church and a faithful member of that church until death. He was an energetic a good neighbor and always stood for the right and respected by all who knew him. Funeral and interment was at Pleasant Grove on the 10th, by the side of his wife."
