  16. [S6565] The Lexington Herald, January 6, 1919, Pg. 12, Printed in the Monday, January 6, 1919 edition of The Lexington Herald on page 12. "SCOTT COUNTY MAN DIES AT FORT WORTH - Georgetown Ky., Jan. - Mrs. S. Gadines received a telegram today announcing the death of her nephew, Ford Offutt, of Fort Worth, Texas. He was 52 years of age and was the son of the late Mrs. Mary Ford Offutt Hunt. Mr. Offutt comes of one of the best known families of Kentucky and has many relatives in Louisville, Shelbyville and in Central Kentucky. The body will be brought here Tuesday for burial, Dr. J. D. Wallace. of the Georgetown Presbyterian church. will conduct short services at the grave in the Georgetown cemetery." Although the title says Died in Fort Worth, it states in the article that he was of Fort Worth. An article printed in the next day's issue states he died in New Mexico, so I've removed Fort Worth as the place of death. Mrs. Gadines I believe to be Mrs. Gaines, of Fannie Offutt Gaines.

  18. [S6566] The Lexington Herald, January 7, 1919, Pg. 8, Printed in the Tuesday, January 7, 1919 edition of The Lexington Herald on page 8. In the article titled "SCOTT NEGROES HAD PREPARED FOR BAD WINTER" in the second from last paragraph it reads "The remains of Ford Offutt, who died in New Mexico will arrive Tuesday and will be buried in Georgetown Cemetery. Mr. Offutt is survived by a brother, James W. Offutt, who will accompany the remains and his mother, Mrs. Hunt."
  19. [S6568] The Lexington Herald, January 14, 1919, Pg. 6, Printed in the Tuesday, January 14, 1919 edition of The Lexington Herald on page 6. In the article titled "GEORGETOWN GIRL WEDS FORMER CHOIR ASSOCIATE" in the last paragraph it reads "The funeral of Ford Offutt, who died in New Mexico occured this morning in Georgetown Cemetery. His brother, James Ford, and wife accompanied the remains here." Once again the article has some mistakes, in that they list the brother's name as James Ford for some reason, however it does at least give the correct date of the actual burial.
