Description of a Marriage of Young Couple Who Are Representatives of Old Families of The Counties. A belated account of the Yewell-Taylor wedding at Uniontown came to hand yesterday, and is as follows: For weeks past there has been quite a confusion in the fashion circles of our town over an anticipated wedding in our midst. On January 1st the suspicion was substantiated by the appearance of the cards. The bride, Miss Mannie Taylor, is a grand daughter of Dr. Gibson Taylor, who was a most eminent physician and valuable citizen. She belongs to one of the largest and most influential families in the county, and although the invitations were limited, the guests in attendance were numerous. The groom, Mr. Martin Yewell, I learn was raised in Daviess county, but came to this place and read law with Mr. H. M. Haskins, his brother-in-law, and then returned to Owensboro, where he is prosperously practicing his profession, being county attorney at present. On the night of the 6th of January Mr. Yewell, accompanied by his sister, Mrs. Rice, of Greenville, Miss Mary Lou Barron and Messrs. Josh Griffith, H. A. Miller and Wat. Megill, of Owensboro, arrived, and on the night of the 7th inst., at eight o'clock, the marriage took place at the residence of the bride's mother, Mrs. Volinder Taylor, Rev. R. S. Barrett, of Henderson, officiating. Mr. and Mrs. N. B. Offutt, the former the bride's uncle, entered the parlor first, Mrs. Offutt elegantly attired in combination of black silk and velvet. Next entered Mr. Josh Griffith, of Owensboro, and Miss Katie Taylor, of this place, the latter the bride's cousin. Miss Taylor wore a brown combination of silk and velvet. She is a very pretty girl and her toilet was most becoming. The latter couple immediately preceded the bridal couple. The bride, who is very beautiful, was attired with exquisite taste in wood-brown silk, trimmed with velvet and coffee lace, diamonds and pond lily flowers. The groom and attendant were as elegant as two handsome gentlemen could be. Just after the impressive ceremony was performed the bridal party and guests repaired to the dining-room, where an elegant supper was served. The dining-room displayed the elaborate preparations to the best advantage. A description of the table would require too much space. It was supervised by Mesdames T. C. Blackwell and T. H. Chapman; this alone, with our people, was a sufficient guarantee of its success.
The bridal couple and the Owensboro friends left that night for Owensboro, where this happy couple will make their future home. As it is the bride's desire, we will submit; it is natural that she should leave us for the young man, though it is hard, We hope that the people of her new home will love her as those of her old one. Owensboro can have her citizenship in the future, but Uniontown will claim her raising."
