"Ethyl Davis, mother of late actor Jim Davis of 'Dallas' fame, dies - DEARBORN, Mo. - Ethyl 0. Davis, Overland Park, Kan., died Tuesday at an Overland Park nursing home. She was the mother of the late actor, Jim Davis, who played the role of Jock Ewing in the television series "Dallas." Mrs. Davis was born in Camden Point, Mo., and was a member of the Baptist Church, Dearborn, and the Fidelity Chapter No. 339, Order of the Eastern Star, both of Dearborn. She and her husband were in the furniture and funeral home business from 1912 to 1914. From 1914 to 1948, they operated the Davis Funeral Home in Dearborn. In 1960, she moved to the Overland Park. Surviving are two daughters, Derostha Forbes, Summersworth, N.H., and Janet Bowlby, Overland Park; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Vaughn-Aufranc Funeral Home, Dearborn. Burial will be in the Camden Point Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 Friday evening at the chapel."

When he retired from Gates Rubber Company in 1965 Mr. and Mrs. Offutt moved here permanently. He had been a mechanic for Gates in Denver. He was a member of the Animas Valley Grange, the National Grange, AARP and the 55PlusCenter. He is survived by bis wife, Ruth Offutt, Durango; sons, Oliver Offutt, Spencer, Iowa and David Offutt, Durango. Six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
