  6. [S2171] June 19, 1880 Federal Census, 700 Pennsylvania AVE, NW, Washington, DC, USA, Population Schedule; Lytles Fork District, Scott County, KY, Line 30 lists wife Maly, she is said to be 28 born in KY. This would mean that she would have been born circa 1852. Date removed based on conflicts with other information, then when I located the find a grave memorial I re-entered it.
  7. [S2173] June 15, 1900 Federal Census, 700 Pennsylvania AVE, NW, Washington, DC, USA, Population Schedule; Supervisors Dist #4; E.D. # 93; Magisterial District #4, Scott County, KY, Line 2 lists Malvina as his wife, born Feb 1863 in KY, age 47, married 28 years. I removed this date, since it made no sense. If she was born in 1863 and was married for 28 years she would have been married in 1872, when she would have been 9. Removed the Feb 1863 date.

  9. [S7510] The Daily Republican, November 18, 1919, Pg. ELEVEN, Printed in the Tuesday, November 18, 1919 edition of The Daily Republican on page ELEVEN. "Obituary - Death has again made its round and behind are left many sad hearts while the mystery is unexplained. Mrs. Melvina Offutt was born in Georgetown, Kentucky, February 16, 1852 and departed this life November 14, 1919, making her age 67 years and nine months. Mrs. Offutt was united in marriage to Steven Offutt February 16, 1871, and to this union were born six children to mourn her loss. Joe of Connersville, Asa of Detroit, Mrs. Robert Cain of Connersville, Mrs. Bert Matlock and Walter of this city, one son Willie who has gone on to await the coming of mother in the land beyond, also two sisters who live in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Mrs. Offutt united to the Christian church when a young girl. Her life was unassuming, simplicity being the keynote. She was ever ready and willing to help everyone, no matter how hard or difficult the task, she was always ready to do her part. She idolized her family, often expressing her love for them as they were always uppermost in her mind. She planned her death as preparing to go on a long journey. When asked how she was, her face would light up with a smile, "awaiting the Lord's call," would be her answer." There is a long message at the end that I didn't transcribe.
