F. and Laura Harris Offutt. He was an employee of Kington Coal Company near Mortons Gap for several years. He moved to Gary, Ind., in 1909, working for steel mills, then later returned to Hopkins County where he retired as a farmer. He married Roxie Ann Browning in 1912, and to this union four children were born. She preceded him in death in 1934. He then married Alma Cunningham in 1938, and to this union six children were born. Survivors other than his wife include four sons, Charles Sidney Offutt, Madisonville, Albert Douglas Offutt, Mortons Gap, Ronnie Offutt, Greenville, and Jimmy Offutt, Route 5, Madisonville; six daughters, Mrs. J. C. Gunn, Mortons Gap, Mrs. Lula Mae Ashley, Elfers, Fla., Mrs. James A. Offutt Woodsboro - Bernard Leo "Bernie" Offutt 84 of Oak Hill Road Woodsboro, died Friday, Feb. 4, 2000 at his farm. He was the husband of Lillian Kingsbury Offutt his wife of 62 years. Born Oct. 26 1915, in Poolesville Md., he was a son of the late John B. and Marie J. Offutt. He was a farmer, breeder, trainer and driver of Standardbred horses. He was a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Walkersville. He was also a member of the Cloverleaf Association and was a past member of the South Mountain Rangers Riding Club. Surviving are four sons Roland A. Offutt of Gettysburg and Bernard L. Offutt Jr., John B. Offutt and Joseph M. Offutt all of Woodsboro; two daughters, Marie E. Allen of Jefferson and Carol A. Sorensen of Alexandria, Va.; 12 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and two brothers, W. Jerome Offutt and Linwood T. Offutt of Frederick; and two sisters. Marguerite Moxley of Libertytown and Mary V. Kuzas of Frederick. He was preceded in death by a son, Daniel L. Offutt; a sister, Rosalie Mullineaux: and two brothers, John B. Offutt II and Eugene J. Offutt. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Timothy's Roman Catholic Church, 8651 Biggs Ford Road, Walkersville, Md. The Rev. Richard Murphy will be the celebrant. Interment will be in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Woodsboro. Md. The' family will receive friends from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday and 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Stauffer Funeral Home. 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, Md. Mike passed away Thursday, July 18, 1996, at Shirkey Leisure Acres in Richmond, MO. Prior to moving to Shirkey Leisure Acres, Mike was a resident of Orrick for over 30 years. Mike was a graduate of Excelsior Springs High School, earned his B.A. Degree from Pittsburgh State University and his M.A. Degree from Central Missouri State University. He taught school in East Moline, IL; Port Byron, IL; Tingley, IA; Bushnell, NE; Odessa, MO; Orrick, MO; and was a high school principal in Orrick from 1947 to 1953. Mr. Waters retired from Raytown Senior High School in 1976, after teaching history for 22 years. During WWII, he worked at the Rock Island Arsenal plant in Illinois, building war machinery. In 1952, he was a sheet metal instructor at the Ford Aerial Factory in Claycomo, MO, prior to it being converted to automobile production. Mike was an expert cabinetmaker, who made many of the units in the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C. including the cabinet which holds the Gutenberg Bible. He was a Scout leader for several years. He and his wife taught the high school Sunday School Class in the Round Table Room at the Orrick Christian Church for many years. He was an active member of the Orrick community. He was elected to serve on the Orrick City Council, was a member of the Orrick Christian Church, the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, a charter member of the Orrick Lions Club, a member of Ada Lodge 444 of Orrick, the Kansas City Scottish Rite and the Kansas City Ararat Shrine Temple. Mike married Edna G. Wholf, of Orrick, April 19, 1930. She preceded him in death September 6, 1994. Mike is survived by his son, Michael Thomas Waters; daughter-in-law, Linda (Offutt) Waters; two sisters, Mrs. Caleb (Carrie) Adams and Mrs. Tom (Martha) Serviss; four grandchildren, Carol Lee Duensing, Corpus Christi, TX, Elizabeth Pearl Waters, Orrick, MO, Michael Thomas Waters, Jr., Orrick, MO, and Linda Anne Branson, Reno, NV; and seven great-grandchildren, Christopher Michael Duensing, John Andrew Duensing, Michael Thomas Waters III, Daniel Thomas Duensing, Kate Elizabeth Branson, Matthew Tyler Waters and Kelly Renee' Branson.
