     Nathaniel S. Offutt was born on September 8, 1842 at Harrison County, KY, USA.2,3,4,5,6,7 He was listed in the 1860 census at District #2, Scott County, KY, USA, in the household of Lewis B. Offutt and Sarah Offutt on June 22, 1860.8 Nathaniel S. Offutt began military service as a 2nd Lt. on September 2, 1862 in Company E of the 5th KY Calvary at Lexington, Fayette County, KY, USA, in the service of the C.S.A.9,10,11 He was captured by Union Forces and taken P.O.W. on July 20, 1863 at Salineville, OH, USA. He ended military service when he was released after he swore Oath of Allegiance on May 9, 1865 at Johnson's Island, OH, USA. He married Mary E. Viley on April 17, 1867 at OH, USA.12,13,14,15,7 Nathaniel S. Offutt and Mary E. Offutt appeared on the Federal Census of July 22, 1870 at White Sulpher Precinct, Scott County, KY, USA.16 Nathaniel S. Offutt was the sole beneficiary named in the will of Lewis B. Offutt on August 3, 1875 at Scott County, KY, USA.17 Nathaniel S. Offutt and Mary E. Offutt appeared on the Federal Census of June, 1880 at Georgetown, Scott County, KY, USA.18 Nathaniel S. Offutt was Lawyer in 1896.19 He and Mary E. Offutt appeared on the Twelfth Federal Census of between September 15, 1900 and September 16, 1900 at Georgetown, Scott County, KY, USA.20,21 Nathaniel S.     CYNTHIANA, Ky.. Dec. 21 - James Howard Offutt, retired farmer, died this morning at 2 o'clock at his home at Leesburg after an illness of several months. He was born at Leesburg September 28, 1863, and was the son of the late Nathaniel and Amelia Porter Offutt. His first marriage was to Miss Jeanie Shropshire and his second marriage was to Mrs. Mary Alice Barkley, who survives. His surviving children by his first marriage are: Mrs. Forest Thompson, Claysville; Mrs. Earl Anderson, Leesburg, and Earl Offutt, Covington. and a surviving sister is Mrs. Lou Switzer, Los Angeles, Cal. Mr. Offutt was a member of the Leesburg Christian church. Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 10:30 o'clock at the residence, the Rev. Wyatt Montgomery, pastor of the Leesburg church. officiating. Burial will be at Jacksonville cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joe Brock, A. C. Webb, Dr. H. C. Blount, Harold Shropshire, Vesta Allen and Ray Paul. Honorary pallbearers will be C. H. Paul. Harvey Shropshire, Joe Offutt, Rolla Van Hook, Walter Switzer and Stewart Shropshire."

She helped organize and was first president of the Joslyn Art Museum's Women's Association, twice headed the Visiting Nurses Association and was an organizer and one of the first directors of Omaha's Planned Parenthood Association. A native of Helena, Mont., she moved to Omaha in 1921 after her marriage. She and her husband built a home at 109 N. 54th St., in 1925 and have lived there since. She also was known an an (sic) excellent gardener. Offutt Air Force base is named for her husband's brother, Lt. Jarvis Offutt, an Army aviator killed in World War I. Survivors Include her husband; daughter, Mrs. Richard Pratt Jr., Cold Spring Harbor, N.Y.; sons, Casper Jr., Atherton, Calif., and John L., Omaha; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 10 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church, where she was a 50-year member. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian, Joslyn or the Visiting Nurses Association."

     Casper Yost Offutt Jr. was born on May 13, 1927 at Omaha, Douglas County, NE, USA.1 He began military service before July 9, 1945 at Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Lake County, IL, USA.2 S2c Casper Yost Offutt Jr. reported aboard the U.S.S. Trinity, U.S. Navy, on November 1, 1945.3
