Though the Father rejoiceth at the home-coming of his children it leaves many a sad heart on earth, where a devoted husband and loving children mourn the loss of a wife and mother who lived a life of loving sacrifice for those around her, always ready to extend a helping hand to those in need; loved by all who knew her kindly spirit, a sufferer for a number of years, but through it all she showed that sweet and loving character, which can come from a pure christian life. She had been a consistent and faithful member of the M. E. Church South, for about thirty-one years. She was the only daughter of the late William Schaffenacker, of Capon Bridge, Hampshire county, W. Va. She was born in Jersey City, N. J., Feb. 5, 1854, hence was 52 years and 17 days of age. She lived in Winchester, Va., during the civil war, and was married to her beloved husband, at Martinsburg, W. Va., May 11, 1872, and resided in Keyser, W. Va., for the past eighteen years. She leaves a husband and seven children, viz.: Mrs. Bertha Daddysman, of Washington, D. C., Mrs. Dora E. Keenan, of Keyser; Fred E. T. Offutt, of Washington, D. C., Misses Grace and Frances Offutt and W. N. Jr., and Reginal J. Offutt, all of Keyser; also an aged mother and six brothers. Her oldest brother, W. C. Schaffenacker, resides in Keyser. Funeral services were held at the house on Saturday, and owing to the illness of her pastor, Dr. A. M. Cackley, were conducted by Rev. W. A. Koontz, pastor of the M. E. Church. The funeral was very largely attended . Interment took place in Queen's Point cemetery. The pall bearers were H. W. Baker, Geo. W. Bane, A. W. Coffroth, V. F. Alkire, David Long, D. T. Greenwade and N. J. Crooks. Like all true and faithful followers of Christ, she was ready to go when the summons came. Numbers of times she had told her husband and children - only a few days before - that she was ready to go at any time."
