Obituary for Nat Offutt as printed in the "Confederate Home Messenger" (Feb. 1909)

Mr. Nat Offutt was born in Harrison County, Kentucky, September 8, 1842. He enlisted in the Confederate army June 9, 1862, in Co. E, 5th KY Calvary, and served through the war. He came to the Home September 2, 1908, and died March 3, 1909. His body was taken to Georgetown for burial, accompanied by Mr. R. S. Redd, from the Home. He was quite an invalid when he came to the Home.

[For some reason the obituary was run in the March issue as well. The second was substantially the same as the first with only two major changes. It left out the last sentence and also noted that he came to the Home from Georgetown, so it would seem that he went back home after the war.
