"Funeral For Mrs. Prescott Is Held Sat. - Aged Lady Dies While Visiting Her Daughter, Mrs. Jesse Jones, Jr. - The funeral of Mrs. Marie Celeste Prescott, 84, who died at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Jones, Jr., in this city, Friday. at 5:25 p. m. was held in Opelousas Saturday afternoon at 3 o'clock from the home of her nephew, Hon. W. B. Prescott, on North Court street. Services were held at the Opelousas Catholic Church, interment took place in the Catholic cemetery. Mrs. Prescott was the widow of the former William M. Prescott, one of St. Landry's leading citizens for a number of years. She was the daughter of Colonel William Offut and a resident of St. Landry all of her life. She was a graduate of Grand Coteau Convent and active in church work over a long period 1 of years. She was widely known for her kind nature and charitable work. She was a good mother. a good neighbor, and a good friend. The love and esteem accumulated during the long span of her life and friends joined the family in mourning her death. Mrs. Prescott was visiting her daughter, Mrs. Jesse .Jones, in Eunice when she became ill last Monday. Her case rapidly developed into pneumonia and the end came Friday afternoon at 5:25. Surviving are three sons: John, of Opelousas: Walter of Welsh:-and Ben of Houston, Texas: and two daughters, Mrs. J. E. Wartelle, of Washington; and Mrs. Jesse Jones, of this city."

A native of Louisville, Offutt started his medicine business here about 20 years ago. Before that he was sales manager for the helium division of Girdler Corporation for a year. Offutt was a graduate of Louisville Male High School. He studied agriculture at Purdue University and later received a bachelor-of-science degree in economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
He was a second lieutenant in World War I
Offutt was a member of the American Pharmaceutical Society, Pendennis Club, and Highland Presbyterian Church. He also held membership in the Reforma Athletic Club and American Club in Mexico City.
Private Funeral Tomorrow Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Leota Offutt; a son, Winfield F. Offutt. New York; his mother, Mrs. Hyman G. Offutt; a sister, Mrs. Nancy G. Simmons, Greenwich, Conn. and a brother: Claggett Offutt, Los Angeles.
A private funeral will be held tomorrow at Lee Cralle's, 1330 S. Third. Burial will be in Cave Hill Cemetery.
