He served his community by serving on the Board of Directors at the Bank of Orrick for over 50 years and serving as President of the Tri County Drainage District, Ray-Clay Drainage District, and Orrick Drainage and Levee District. Luman also served on the Farmer's Home Insurance Board and the Orrick Board of Education. He was a member of the Missouri Valley Drainage and Levee District, the Orrick Christian Church, Ada Lodge 444 of Orrick, the Kansas City Ararat Shrine Temple, and was a charter member of the Orrick Lions Club. Luman married Dorothy Clevenger on July 17, 1934. She preceded him in death on December 16, 1994. He was also preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Pearl Paulson; and one brother, Ronald Offutt. Luman is survived by three daughters, Linda Offutt Waters, Orrick, MO, Marcia Offutt Kirby, Raytown, MO, and Joan Offutt Olin, Overland Park, KS; three sons-in-law, Michael Thomas Waters, Clifford Russell Kirby, Jr., and Harold Arvin Olin, Jr.; one sister, Frances Henderson, Liberty, MO; eight grandchildren, Carol Lee Duensing, Corpus Christi, TX, Elizabeth Pearl Waters, Orrick, MO, Michael Thomas Waters, Jr., Orrick, MO, Linda Anne Branson, Reno, NV, Karen Leslie Kirby, Chicago, IL, Bryan Douglas Olin, Cincinatti, OH, Rodney Stewart Olin, Portland, OR, and Kevin Patrick Olin, Overland Park, KS; and seven great-grandchildren. Mr. Offutt's casket bearers will be Bryan Olin, Rodney Olin, Kevin Olin, Sammy Offutt, Burleigh Wheeler and Farrel Douglas.
