    "MRS. AGNES OFFUTT'S FUNERAL TODAY.
    - Was Daughter of One of Louisville's Pioneers-Formerly Lived At Bardstown-

Mrs. Agnes Offutt, who will be buried this afternoon at 2:30 o'clock from the First Presbyterian church, was the daughter of one of Louisville's pioneers, Capt. William Sale, a soldier of the War of 1812. with the Kentucky troops at the battle of New Orleans, and a conspicuous citizen of Jefferson county till his death in 1856, his home being on the site of the addition now known as Reservoir Park.
He left a large family of children, of whom Mrs. Offutt was the last but one to survive, Her sister, Mrs. Laura Smith, is still living and resides with her son in St. Joseph, Mo. Mrs. Offutt was twice married, her first husband being Charles J. Morton, of Shelby county, by whom she left one son, the Rev. Charles J. Morton, a Presbyterian minister and the pastor of a church in Florida.
Mrs. Offutt had just returned from a visit to him last week before her death. Some years after Mr. Morton's death she married the late John Offutt, a prominent citizen of Nelson county. and since the latter's death she has been residing at the old Offutt homestead near Bardstown until a year or more ago; when she took up her abode with her nephew, Martin Murray at his residence on Foree avenue in this city, where she died after a brief illness early Tuesday morning at the ripe old age of 78 years. She was a most estimable Christian woman and her many good deeds will long hold her in kind remembrance by all who knew her. Owing to the illness of his wife, her son will not be able to be present at the funeral." Removed the date suggested by "where she died early Tuesday morning" which would mean February 23, 1909 based on death notice printed in the same paper a few pages later that had the death as February 22nd, as well as the Mortuary Record for Jefferson County which also has the 22nd,.
