Kentucky Adjutant General's Reports for KY, Vol. 1, pp. 588-589 list a B. C. Offutt, Private, Company L, 2nd KY Calvary. Promoted to Sgt. 1 Nov 1862. States that he was a transfer from the 18th TN Infantry, Company K.

Found in the Index of Confederate Soldiers (TN) Series M231 Roll #32, as well as the Index of
Confederate Soldiers (KY) Series M377 Roll #10 3 times with various spellings. The original card in the KY Series Film has the name spelled "Offutt, Benjamin C.".
