Cora was a seamstress. She would frequently make clothes for Grace Offutt Smith and Jennie Wileman Rhodes and their children. They, in turn, would buy enough material for Cora to make clothes for herself and Dorothy. After moving to 5701 Allentown Road, Cora continued to change the house for the winter and summer seasons. For summer, the rugs would be taken up and sent to the cleaners for cleaning and storage. The wood floors would be cleaned and straw type rugs put down. Her sister, Mabel, would take the thin summer curtains outside after washing and stretch them on stretchers before putting them up. The heavy drapes were also taken down and sent for cleaning and storage. There were brightly colored slip covers put on all the red overstuffed furniture and summer doilies and accessories brought out from winter storage. The windows were cleaned and prepared for opening since there was no air conditioning.

Cora continued to sew after moving to Allentown Road. Even when working daily at Tommy's Anglers Supply, she found time to make each grandchild an Easter outfit. She was frequently seen walking between the house and store. She always enjoyed her infrequent visits with Grace Offutt Smith. They, along with Jennie Wileman Rhodes were known as the three musketeers when they were young. They were always together.
Cora and Grace would often reminisce until the two of them were unable to talk for laughing.
