The will of Milford Offutt, 1846

Scott Co., Ky. Will Book J, p. 276

In the name of God, Amen, I Milford Offutt of the County of Scott and State of Kentucky being weak as Respects my Physical Powers but sound in mind do make this my last will and Testament.

First I wish my Mother Clarissa Offutt during her natural life time to have and to hold free of Rent a certain piece of land containing Eleven acres & roads which I bought from Jones Wiggins and after her death I wish the said piece of land sold and the proceeds of it divided between my wife and children according to Law.

Second I wish my wife Elizabeth Offutt to keep as much of my house hold furniture Farming utensils and Stock as she may think proper and the balance I wish sold and all my honest debts to be paid and the balance of the proceeds of said property with what money I have loaned out to be put out at interest for the benefit of my heirs.

Third I wish Mr. Thomas Thornberry to be my Executor to carry my will into effect whereunto I have this --- day of July 1846 set my hand and seal

At a court begun & held for Scott Co. at the Court house thereof in Georgetown the 21st day of Sept. 1846. The foregoing last will & testament of Milford Offutt decd. and returned into Court and proved by the oaths of James Glass and Baruc R. Offutt & Ordered to be Recorded.
